Announcing Twittle - A Flash Lite Twitter Client and Server API

Thanks to the http://www.FlashLiteDeveloperChallenge.com
We were motivated to build a social networking application.
For distribution we are looking at Thumplay, GetJar and
Nokia Ovi.
I will be at CTIA in Las Vegas (April 1st-4th) demoing this application and our other projects so feel free to ping me if you want to see it in action.

Majority of the features already work for Touch UI so we are considering a version for the Nokia 5800 and praise God we are already white listed by Twitter for unlimited API use.

Adobe at Mobile World Congress

Adobe has some big announcements today. Among them is Palm supporting Flash 10!

Here are the highlights:

• Flash shipped on 1 Billion devices (cummulative): Flash Lite shipped on 40% of all new handsets in 2008
• Public beta of the Distributable Player solution – the ability to distribute mobile apps with the latest Flash Lite runtime
• Launch of m.adobe.com with leading content providers
• The Flash Lite Developer Challenge – a contest with cash prizes totaling $100,000

• The Open Screen Project Fund – a $10 Million market development fund open to developers worldwide

I know this is not Flash related but anyone that uses Twitter. This is a cool widget for your blog to show how many people are currently following you and recruit new folks:

Teaser: Flash Lite GPS with Touch UI on Windows Mobile

Here is what my team at Teleca and I have been working on a Flash Lite GPS app tapping into Google maps. This allows the user to save their current location (in case you are at a restaurant you like but do not have the address), also view local theaters, hotels, etc. Someone from Teleca will be demoing this @ Adobe Max.

This could essentially work on any platform that supports flash lite and has GPS. There is back end work involved in accessing GPS coordinates this currently works on Windows Mobile. We have it running on a AT&T Tilt and Moto Q9.

Eventually I want to add more features (Messaging, Jogging, Turn-by-Turn) plenty of possibilities.

Microsoft has licensed Flash Lite for Windows Mobile

Great news for Flash Lite Developers alot of Windows Mobile devices may soon have Flash Lite running in the browser.

"The two companies are expected to announce Monday that Microsoft has signed a license to use Flash Lite and Reader LE in future Windows Mobile handsets as plug-ins for Internet Explorer Mobile. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, such as what the companies plan to do when Microsoft releases Silverlight for Mobile, a competing technology."

"Eventually, Microsoft expects to support both Flash Lite and Silverlight on its Windows Mobile handsets. "Flash is, for a lot of people, something they've already invested in," Snyder said. Having support for the incumbent while it tries to get Web developers on the Silverlight team makes sense; "it's good to have both," he said. "
